Our Founders

Miriam has always had a deep connection with horses, a passion she shared with her husband Steve after they married. Together, they’ve owned numerous horses and passed that love on to their youngest daughter, Sam. In 2012, Miriam started trailering Sam’s horse and those of a few friends to local shows, as well as her own horse and friends’ horses to fox hunting events.

What began as casual local hauls for friends grew into a thriving business, and in 2014, Blue Ribbon Horse Trailering was officially born as an LLC. Steve joined the company in 2016 after retiring from a 40-year career flying jets for the U.S. Air Force and United Airlines. Now, he enjoys exploring the country by road instead of air.

Miriam and Steve, often accompanied by their lab, Athena, did much of the driving themselves, with a team of trusted equestrian friends as contracted drivers. By 2019, Miriam hired Sofie, her first employee, and by 2022, they had grown the business to four trucks and trailers running full-time.

Now, as proud grandparents to six (with another on the way), it's time for a new chapter: Miriam and Steve have other things to do—like retiring, embracing grandparenting, and traveling the world to the fullest—while Sofie's priorities have shifted to staying home and homeschooling her own children!
